A NEW PROCEDURE TO ADDRESS AN OLD PROBLEM HAS FINALLY ARRIVED

For adult patients experiencing persistent symptoms of ear pain and pressure with popping and crackling sensations, an innovative solution has finally arrived.

A new minimally-invasive technique called EUSTACHIAN TUBE DILATION is now covered by Medicare and certain Medicaid plans, along with an increasing number of commercial insurances to treat this common condition.

In general, this brief in-office procedure widens the plumbing system of the ear, leading to long-term improvements in ear symptoms. Widening the Eustachian Tube takes only 15 minutes to perform, with a return to work possible the very next day. The procedure may additionally be performed while you are briefly asleep in our office, with no memory of the procedure afterward.

In addition, no long-term follow-up is required as with “ear tube” placement, and medications such as antibiotics, nasal steroids (Flonase/Nasonex) and their side effects may be avoided.

Contact Mann ENT today if you have any questions, or would like to discuss Eustachian Tube Dilation further.

In-Office Eustachian Tube Dilation — Comfort of Full Sedation, Convenience of an Office Visit

Mann ENT performs Eustachian tube dilation in office at our Cary, NC location, bringing together the comfort of full sedation and the convenience of a straightforward office visit. There is no need to travel to a hospital or surgery center, and no need to navigate facility admissions or separate pre-operative appointments.

For patients who are anxious about procedures or simply prefer not to be awake during ear pressure treatment, Mann ENT offers the option of general anesthesia administered by a fully licensed anesthesiologist. Most practices that offer this ETD procedure under anesthesia require a hospital or outpatient facility booking — meaning more time, more cost, and more complexity. At Mann ENT, that level of comfort is available right in our office. Patients who want to be fully asleep, with no awareness of the procedure, can request this option during their consultation.

The procedure itself takes approximately 15 minutes. Patients go home the same day and can typically return to work the very next day. The Eustachian tube is gently widened using a small balloon catheter, allowing the ear to equalize pressure more effectively and providing lasting relief from chronic ear fullness, popping, and discomfort — without the ongoing need for ear tubes or long-term medication use.
